December's List Over at Lose the Buddha, Erin called for us all to put the scale away for the month of December. I have done just that. Well, I asked Greg to take it to work - the only way for me to break the habit of weighing myself every morning and night is to have the scale removed from the house. Yes, I said every morning and night. I don't know where the obsessive weighing came from. I stopped doing Weight Watchers in August. Today I weigh exactly what I weighed on that day - 136. It is a weight I am happy with. All my clothes fit. I'd like it to be shaped a little differently, so I joined a gym two weeks ago. In the time since August, I have eaten healthily sometimes and sometimes I've had crap. I've had long months of inactivity. I haven't gained an ounce back. I haven't gained a single ounce back, and yet I continue to weigh myself obsessively. I need to break the habit. Thanks for the push, Erin. Breaking the scale habit is only one thing on the list for December. Let me outline the rest for you, okay? This will be both to-do and plans that are already made. 1. Write a 15-20 page paper for my 18th Century British Novel course by December 15th, the final due date. I should already be writing this paper. I only just decided on a topic yesterday. The topic I chose has nothing to do with the novel I thought I'd be writing on. My preliminary research is now useless; back to the library I must go. 2. Clean the house and plan a menu for Christmas dinner, because we are hosting the party once again. 3. Address and mail holiday cards. The plan to do this over Thanksgiving? Didn't exactly work out. 4. Finish shopping (luckily I'm almost done; I only really have our charitable shopping left). 5. Write a journal entry at least 20 times during the month of December, because for some insane reason I decided to join Holidailies again. 6. Go to the extended versions of the first two Lord of the Rings movies, and then see Return of the King. 7. Attend the holiday concert at the Center. 8. Go to one dentist and three doctor's appointments. 9. Spend a day in NYC. 10. Finish moving and updating the website for the Center. 11. Move this domain, my other domain, and Greg's new domain to our new hosting package at Dreamhost. 12. Finish selecting wedding pictures. 13. Price and possibly buy fireplace doors, because our flue is damaged beyond repair and is permanently open. 14. Select, buy, and hang something in the dining room windows. Anything. Trash bags would suffice at this point. 15. Go to the gym at least twice a week. 16. Sleep. Eat. Work a 40 hour week. 17. Entertain Greg's parents for five+ days. 18. Plan the 10th anniversary show choir alumni concert, which as of now does not have enough performers to go ahead as scheduled. 19. Did I mention the paper? It's going to be a hell of a month. One year I'm going to have an easy December, I swear. Just once in my life. Really. Once, so that I can look back and remember it. The rest of the month's entries won't be lists, I promise. |
