Still Avoiding
21 April 2003

I've got almost seven pages! Seven out of ten! Oh no, you can't stop me. Really. You can't.

It's amazing what I'll do to avoid this paper. I'll play Spider Solitaire and 3-D Pinball. I'll read Nora Roberts novels. I'll read salon.com and the piddly little handful of journals that updated today (pot, kettle) and watch Days of Our Lives (Belle's outfit? The hell?) and receive but not open birthday gifts in the mail, because it is not yet my birthday. Because I believe in birthday karma, I will mail out cards and send someone flowers, and it not only means my memory is improving, it means I will happily spend money if it means I can avoid William Blake a little longer. I will surf the Usual Suspects and rejoice that yesterday's entry turned someone on to the political wonder that is Howard Dean. (Democrats. You are looking for someone to believe in. I think this is our guy.) I will maintain three IM windows at once and do the dishes and eat a Gardenburger.

I will talk to Kate on the phone for at least half an hour. I will read Harry Potter fanfiction. I will order a Wil Wheaton dot net t-shirt. I will surf the Toronto Trek website and read email from Patti and make a reservation for our last night in Ireland. I will talk to Greg on the phone at least three times. I will listen to the men cleaning the gutters.

I will go to great lengths.
