10 Things In 10 Minutes Ten minutes to go before I leave work. What can I tell you in ten minutes? How about ten things? 1. Jessie posted at The Usual Suspects that she'd called and gotten her GRE Lit test score for a charge of $10. Of course, I couldn't resist - even though I don't even need the score anymore, I wanted to know what it was. I called, plunked down the ol' Visa check card, and found out: 600. 72nd percentile. Very respectable and only 50 points shy of what Harvard wanted, which I was using for my "success bar." I have no idea what my program wanted, and since they made the decision without my score, it really doesn't matter! But considering I could have done a much better job studying for said Lit test, I'm quite pleased. I said I would be happy with anything from 600 up, and I am. 2. The first season of Felicity was really, really good. I think I have loved this show so much because I didn't get those undergrad experiences. I only had one semester of dorm living. To this day, I feel like I missed out. Something in me reaches out to those characters. And the Thanksgiving episode is a fine piece of television. 3. No CD player in my car=very little Christmas music. I listened to John Denver's "Rocky Mountain Christmas" yesterday (shut up) and fell in love with "Aspenglow" all over again. I don't love John Denver's other work, but I love his Christmas stuff. 4. I caught Greg's cold, but he's had it for about six days and I got over it in two. I'm really hoping to not catch it again. That would be really, really good. 'Cause, you know, this paper. 5. I wrote two pages on the paper! Six (required) to go. 6. I have officially finished my Christmas cards. Cards have begun to arrive for me! It's very exciting. I love to get your cards. 7. Presents have started to arrive, for us, from Greg's parents. This is their first foray into the realm of online shopping, and we are mightily impressed. Not only have they successfully ordered off our amazon.com wish lists and at least one other sight, they thought to address the packages to themselves at our address so we don't open them. This is a big deal! They're seventy. We're proud. My mom is an old hat at online ordering by now, but I was still impressed when she recently took advantage of some free shipping deals. Our parents are all grown up. *sniff* 8. I must have been insane to schedule two visits AND direct the show choir alumni concert. The rehearsal period directly overlaps both Greg's parents' visit and Patti's New Year's visit. Insane. That's me. Somehow I'll work it all out. We only need to have three rehearsals, and one will be the day of the concert. But still I say - I am insane. 9. I picked up a bunch of clutter last night. I found the floor. It was scary. I asked Greg what the big white thing was. He said "That's the carpet, sweetie. CAR-PET. The thing that goes under the clothes." Hee. 10. I have missed two Holidailies! This is not good! I only have three left to miss and I know I will need them all at the end of the month! I need to think of things to write about, stat, that don't come in numbered lists. (I will. I promise.) |
