On behalf of the graduate faculty in the English department at __ University, I wish to congratulate you on your recent acceptance into the program.

The hard work, the late nights, the nineteen times Greg read my paper and personal statement, the five times Dr. Joe read my personal statement, the two times Dr. V read my personal statement, the long conversations with Dr. V, Dr. C, and Dr. P about grad school?

None of that was in vain.

I graduate my undergraduate program in less than two weeks (it's kind of a letdown, since I don't actually walk until May, but did I mention I GRADUATE?), after twelve years of college.

And in January, I move into a Master's program.

Everyone keeps saying I knew you would get in. But I didn't know. I didn't know, until I got my letter today. They decided without ever getting my subject test scores, and you know what? I don't care. I took that test for no reason. So what? I'm a graduate student.

I'm a graduate student.

It took me twelve years to get here - and in some ways, that just makes it better. Richer. Fuller.
