Melange You know what drives me nuts? When boneheads ruin a project. Someone went to a lot of trouble to set up The 1000Journal Project, which I think is a really cool thing. It was really hard to find an available journal, but I finally did. I signed up in May. You're supposed to keep a journal for 2-3 weeks before passing it along. The last guy to get it? Has had it for four months. About a month ago, I sent him a very nice, polite email wondering if he was going to be sending it along soon. He sent me a very rude, snippy email telling me to be patient. So I emailed the guy in charge, who said he would email the guy himself. Hello? Nicholas in the UK? There are eight people after you. There are guidelines to this project. Don't be an asshole. Oh, too late for that. Buffy is really good this season. I didn't like the jacket episode so much, and I think that Willow has terrible hair. And Emma Caulfield really, really needs to eat about seventeen pounds of Oreos. She's making Sarah Michelle Gellar look fat. But if those are my only major complaints, it must be a good season. Oh, wait. They killed off the wrong member of the Geek Troika. That pissed me off. A lot. 'Cause I really hate the one that's left. I wrote a whole page of my paper today. Only nine to go. Woo. Can you hear the enthusiasm? I owe some important email. I'm playing phone tag with Erica. I haven't talked to Athena in weeks and weeks and weeks. I may never talk to my dad again. The Japanese maple in the yard shed all its leaves. It's so sad. I took beautiful pictures of it last week, but I seem to have misplaced the digital camera. I'll try to find it tomorrow so I can show you. It was so beautiful, all shimmery red - but that only lasted for about a week. I love autumn, but it breaks my heart. I'm afraid my lilac bush will die in the winter. (I had a little too much wine with my sushi tonight.) My copy of the extended version of The Fellowship of the Rings came today (brought to me by the UPS guy who, obviously used to delivering lots of Crate and Barrel boxes, said "Haven't been here in awhile!") and I watched all the extra scenes and a couple of the documentaries. Oh, the Lothlorien farewell scene was so wonderful. And I just never get tired of hearing about how close all the actors became while filming the trilogy. I think it's just the greatest story. I wish they talked about their tattoos in the documentaries, though. In a sort of GRE backlash I've re-read seven Dragonlance novels in the last week, plus the new Nora Roberts novel (Chesapeake Blue). Oh, they were so good. When Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman write in the Dragonlance universe, they're really good fantasy novels. (When others write them...not so much.) And although I was pissed that the new Nora Roberts was in hardcover (it's a sequel to a paperback trilogy), it was really, really good. Plus I paid for it with a Borders gift card. So it was kinda free. (I also got the new Audra McDonald CD, Felicity on DVD, and a Muppet Show anniversary CD. So it's been exciting.) I'm really sleepy. |
