Night Owl I haven't been able to get much done during the day. There are quite a few things to get done before the party, but Greg and I have been staying up until 2, sleeping til 10, and being sluggish. He's had a very bad cold, which apparently struck several of the wedding guests as well (who was the carrier? fess up!) and has been working a little and being sick a lot; I guess my main excuse is that - oh yeah, I got married and was insanely busy the week before the wedding. (Okay, so I have a reason - but I still feel a little guilty.) Errands get run during the day, sometimes. Today we went to Home Depot and returned primer and bought paint and to Acme to buy soda for the party. We also went to Target, where we returned the duplicate wine rack from our registry and bought a lamp, two shades (need to get another lamp), light bulbs, a mirrored cabinet to replace the butt-ugly one on the downstairs powder room that is partially held up by Velcro, and a replacement outlet cover for the living room (who's the most exciting couple on the planet?). We paid for some of this, by the way, with the hundred dollar gift card my father sent me. Add this up together with the food processor he also sent, and you have enough money for a round trip ticket to my wedding (which did indeed come up on ESavers for three airlines last weekend)! But we're not going to talk about that. So we run errands. Oh, I forgot I returned two skirts to H&M (God knows I'll want to remember that in ten years, right?). We also watch the new Buffy DVDs (we're up to the sixth episode, I think) and last night we tried to watch Charade, which reaaaaaally dragged and had a weird mix of humor and thrill and was quite boring and predictable so we stopped watching (despite the fact that it starred Cary Grant, my beloved Audrey Hepburn, and was directed by the most adorable man on the planet, Stanley Donen). The days have gone slowly and I've read a lot (Shopaholic Takes Manhattan- only read it if you can pay less than $5, which is all its worth - and GRE related materials and some rereads) and straightened up a bit, but I really come alive around seven o'clock. That's when I start to balance the checkbook and fold clothes and plan party food and, tonight, paint the dining room. I only meant to wash the walls. I swear. But somehow, at midnight, I found myself with a dining room that was formerly yellow but is now what I can only describe as Restoration Hardware green. It's actually called Woodland Mystery, and it's by Glidden, but the swatch on their website looks putridly gray when it's not gray at all. If you've ever seen a bag from Restoration Hardware, it's basically that green color. It looks lovely - but as I said, I didn't intend to paint tonight! (I'm glad I did.) I have to start getting things done during the day, because my nights are disappearing. Tomorrow night I have a meeting for the theatre camp, and Monday and Tuesday we have auditions. Tuesday during the day I'm shopping with my mom for window treatments; Friday during the day we have callback auditions; Wednesday at some point Kate and Corina have graciously answered my desperate pleas for food help (I suddenly realized that nothing can be made more than three days in advance, so I am essentially screwed without help and as always I owe them big time). The party is a week from yesterday! I've been married for over a week! I can't think of a good way to end this, so how about another picture? ![]() Steve finding out just how stiff my hairdo was. That sucker wasn't moving, not even for a hurricane.
