Four Days Prior... Our new dining room lighting fixture (which I guess is technically a chandelier but that word is so too, too and I've always hated it) was installed today, along with our new living room sconces. They are all lovely, and I meant to post pictures but it was either picture or post and I chose post. After the wedding and party I intend to do a photographic house tour as so many others have done, and you will see them then. They are truly lovely. We found a very inexpensive and good electrician to install them, and since he did it twenty-four hours after we originally called we were very pleased. I tried to Carpet Fresh the upstairs of the house today and our incredibly spiffy souped up allergen filtering bagless vacuum doesn't seem to like Carpet Fresh. It kicked up enormous clouds of it rather than suck it up into the little tubey compartment thingie, and I won't be trying that again. I almost had to use my inhaler, and I can't tell you the last time I almost had to use that. So I stopped vacuuming and instead installed the towel bar in Greg's bathroom. The one we bought, oh, last July. Better late than never? I guess. I also installed a paper towel holder in the kitchen. I know. The excitement of right now. Can you stand it? I didn't get much else done today because I did something to my neck. I don't know what. It hurts like you wouldn't believe - I can hardly turn my head. Last night I took a hot bath - nothing. This morning it hurt more. I tried a heating pad and it was too awkward. I'm currently wearing one of those disposable adhesive heating pad thingies (I can't remember the name and I'm too lazy to get up and check the box) and it helps a little, as did two Motrin, but not much. If anyone has any bright ideas, I would appreciate them more than I can tell you. So I read a lot today (Edith Wharton's The Custom of the Country, which I find very choppy) and checked email and stuff, and let me tell you, none of you are updating. I'm getting married in four days and I updated three times last night alone! What's your excuse? Get to updating, people!Sheesh. I went to the drugstore and I bought nailpolish for the wedding (I know - does it get more exciting than this?) and Greg and I had pizza for dinner (which is the only carbohydrates I've had in, like, four days except for those unsatisfying Skinny Cow things and no, I'm not on the Atkins Diet, I'm just bloaty) and watched two episodes of Black Adder II (Money and Beer), which is my favorite of the series. I tried to work on my Romanticism site, because I really really really want to get it up and running, but I am still struggling with the freaking design. Please feel free to have a look, read my design comments and offer any helpful suggestions you might have. I am itching to start studying. I also need to get the GRE software. It would probably help if I did that, oh, soon. (Damn. I have the freaking Black Adder theme song in my head, and if you know what I'm talking about, you also know how annoying it can get.) Tomorrow I have a massive shopping day planned. I need to get glass for poster frames and bedsheets and a shower curtain liner to replace the mildewy one and wedding jewelry and something to go in my hair. At some point over the next few days I need to put bows around the unity candle tapers and clean the downstairs floors (sweep and mop the kitchen and dining room; vacuum the area rug in the living room) and Greg and I need to hang up more art. And I need to go to the grocery store. (Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to the interactive pre-wedding to-do list!) Okay, I'm boring myself now. Til tomorrow. Someone send me something to read to take my mind off everything else! |
