What's Going On (or, eight days and counting) Eight days til the wedding, and I still don't have jewelry. Or anything to put in my hair. And I haven't decided on shoes, although no one will be able to see them so I may just say screw it and wear something I have because if I already own them, they're sort of free...right? (I'm getting married next week. Follow me here.) We have favors. I don't remember who recommended the darling chocolate mice from Burdick Chocolate, but they are indeed darling and no, I don't know what mice have to do with a wedding but who cares, because they're darling! (If any of my professors ever stumble across this, they will be horrified by my comma splices and grammar shifts and abuse of the dash - but hey, I'm getting married next week!) We got one dark chocolate mousie in a little white box with a celadon (pale green, men) ribbon tied around it. The ribbon will have our names and the date imprinted. They're doing this in a little over a week with no extra charges involved, and I am mightily impressed. So thank you, recommender! Please write me so I can thank you! Greg has shoes (Florsheim is going out of business). I have a hairstyle (well, I had the consultation with the hairdresser). I have makeup thanks to my consultation at MAC today and a purchase of (gulp) $125. However, $125 bought me foundation, powder, blush, two shades of eyeshadow, lipliner, an eyeliner brush and some sponges. Gotta love MAC (if you're a girl) (or a crossdresser) (or a transvestite, executive or otherwise) (or a makeup artist). We have a unity candle. The flowers are paid for. We haven't picked readings, but we have some possibilities. We're getting our marriage license tomorrow. I am doing my level best to just ignore my father's existence for now, because I don't want that hurt to overshadow the joy of next Saturday, and all the days after. However it's not all wedding, all the time. We saw About A Boy the other day and loved it. Loved it. We've also watched The Usual Suspects (which I saw for the first time and figured out in the first five minutes and liked anyway) and L.A. Confidential (I guess it must be Kevin Spacey time, but I'd forgotten just how great that movie is). I've been reading mostly romance novels (all re-reads) with dips into some "bride lit" - Otherwise Engaged by Suzanne Finnamore and Diary of a Mad Bride by...someone who's not Suzanne Finnamore. And we go to the gym and clean and garden and boxes arrive in the mail! That's fun. Is there anyone who doesn't think UPS coming to the door is fun? It's so much fun. I didn't have a registry the first time around so this is all new to me. RSVPs do not arrive and that is not fun; it is very very very stressful and I'm going to knock my family's heads together. Grrrr. Mail. Them. Back. Yes, my brain is as scattered as this entry - so I'll sign off. Oh - Jessie's not getting married for several months, so don't feel like the cranes have to be made this very second! But so many of you are making them and that is very very very cool. I need a popsicle. |
